looking for l'heure bleue

L'heure bleue is a french expression for the minute in between night and day. Just after the night birds fall asleep and before the ones of the day wake up.
We wanted to experience this time of full silence. Reinette et Mirabelle revisited !
Woke up at 4:00...

But it was too late !!! We just woke up at cockcrow...
We have to do this again !

tuesday

Just finished a book ''L'enseignement de Soweto'' by Christophe Hutin (''Learning from Soweto'').
One of his experiences is when he observed the building process of a shak in Soweto.
The people didn't built it with a plan, they did it like a jazz improvisation.
That's how he realized why these architectures are so full of life, on the contrary to the ''well planned'' occidental buildings.

At De Hagelaar, it also seems to be built like this. This is quite different from the perfect gardens of the neighbourhood !

This improvisation thing interests us a lot. We'll try to act like this.

undiscovered spaces

After a tour of the whole farm with our host Jan, we noticed that there was a place we hadn't seen yet.

The milking installation has been closed for about 15 years after Jan had an accident with his arm. It is a silent place where nobody goes. Full of possibility. Suspended time. A frame in this farm.

It's so many worlds here.
Different groups of people who need health care, tourists, animals, plants & vegetables, the land, history, our hosts, and now us and all what we are.
What does exist between all of this ?

the frame - borders - the space in between
an opening ?

Welcome to our blog ! ("bloch" for Germans and "blorrr" for French people)

Here we are, in De Hagelaar, for the Waalkensproject of Landkunst 2010 ! You can read more about the whole project
here. De Hagelaar is a health care farm. Every day, old people, adults and children come to spend time together. They can help the farmer with the work : brushing the donkeys, feeding the animals, growing their own vegetables and preparing it... This place is devoted to life !
